PERFECT POPPIES
Golden Apples, Haverhill
The children at Golden Apples showed their artistic skills, making beautiful poppies to remember the brave men and women who have sacrificed so much for us in different wars around the world.
REMEMBRANCE
The Appletree, Attleborough
Armistice Day was commemorated on 11 November. Also known as Remembrance Day, it marks the day World War One ended, at 11am on the 11th day of the 11th month, in 1918.
We took part in lots of different activities and discussions with the children about what it means, what poppies symbolise – and they learnt a new word in ‘Remembrance’.
The children enjoyed making poppies using paper plates – using sponges and brushes to paint.
When they had dried, some of the children used a black ink stamp to resemble the middle of the poppy before sticking a green lollypop stock to the back of the poppy.

BRUSHING UP!
The Cornerstone, Martlesham
A fab week in Pre-School! We enjoyed practising brushing our teeth and learning about how long to brush our teeth for, how much toothpaste to put on our toothbrushes and what foods are good and not so good for teeth.
We focused on name writing, forming letters and becoming familiar with the letters in our names. We’ve been working on holding our pens in a tripod grasp.
We’ve also been discussing our features and then looking in the mirror to paint self-portraits. We loved making poppies and took part in a two-minute silence for Remembrance Day.
LEST WE FORGET
Head Start, Ramsey
We talked about Remembrance Day and poppies with the children to give them a bit of an understanding of what poppies represent.
The children explored re-enactments, using tanks, horses and soldiers, made poppies out of play-dough, designed their own poppies, iced poppy biscuits and created their own poppy pictures using apples prints – one of which will be placed at the Memorial Cenotaph during Sunday’s parade.
We then watched a short animation clip from the CBeebies website that sees war as experienced by animals in a WWI battlefield.
